Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board ("Chair") had exercised her authority to temporarily suspend Dr. Douglas Helmut Carras' authorization to treat injured workers in the New York State workers' compensation system effective November 4, 2021, (Subject Number 046-1470).

The temporary suspension was based on the Chair's designee's investigation, which revealed that, despite multiple written requests, Dr. Carras had failed and refused to provide the Board with proof of reimbursement of the sum of $623.36 to an injured worker's private health insurer, which sum having also been paid to Dr. Carras by the workers' compensation carrier for the same treatment.

Upon receipt of proof of reimbursement, the Chair has rescinded the temporary suspension of Dr. Carras, and has reinstated his authority to treat injured workers effective November 16, 2022. The Medical Director's Office restored Dr. Carras to the list of providers authorized to treat injured workers as of November 16, 2022.
