In 2000, as part of our ongoing effort to improve service and increase efficiency in the claims process, the Workers' Compensation Board instituted a centralized mailing address for all mail related to workers' compensation cases, including medical reports, in the downstate area. This area included all of New York City and Long Island, plus Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties. We asked at that time that all claims-related mail that was formerly sent to the individual Board district offices in this area of the state be sent to a centralized P.O. Box address in Binghamton, New York.

At this time, to further improve service and expedite the claims process, the centralized mailing address in use in the downstate area should now begin to be transitioned to and used for all claims-related mail for the entire state. Claims-related mail will be accepted at current district office addresses through the end of the year, however, as of January 1, 2013 mail should no longer be sent to any of the district office addresses.

The new centralized mailing address, which is effective immediately, is:

Expanding the use of this address to the entire state has a number of benefits. The Board will save significant time and money as the centralized mailing address is in close proximity to our centralized scanning facility. Receiving all claims-related mail in Binghamton will allow us to make the forms and reports you submit available in the Electronic Case Folder with greater speed and efficiency than ever before, since these documents will no longer need to be sent by courier service from each district to the scanning facility. On the other hand, mail misdirected to the district offices will take several additional days to reroute and process.

As in the past, all non-claims mail, including all Disability Benefits, Health Provider Administration and Compliance related mail, should not be sent to the centralized mailing address, but should continue to be sent to the appropriate office and department.

Supplies of prescribed Board forms that list the downstate and district office mailing addresses remain valid, provided the filing instructions given above are followed. Board forms with the new centralized mailing address may be obtained at the Board's website: www.wcb.ny.gov, under the heading "Forms" at the top of the web page.
