Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations
Authorization No. 246692-8W
May 4, 2016
Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(4), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (“Chair”) exercised his authority to temporarily suspend Dr. David Sanni-Thomas’ authorization to treat injured workers in the New York State workers’ compensation system effective March 5, 2012.
The temporary suspension was based on the Chair’s designee’s investigation, which revealed Dr. Sanni-Thomas had been charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud in United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Those charges were ultimately disposed of by an order of nolle prosequi.
Upon reconsideration of this matter, the Chair has rescinded the temporary suspension of Dr. Sanni-Thomas and has reinstated his authority to treat injured workers effective May 4, 2016. The Medical Director’s Office will restore Dr. Sanni-Thomas to the list of providers authorized to treat injured workers by May 4, 2016.
