Subject Numbers Regarding Health Provider Authorizations

March 11, 2010

Authorization No. 173545-5W

Please be advised that, by Determination and Order (BPMC No. 10-08), effective January 20, 2010, a Hearing Committee of the New York State Department of Health's State Board for Professional Medical Conduct sustained charges against Nessim Roumi, M.D., of professional misconduct; namely negligence on more than one occasion, incompetence on more than one occasion, and failure to maintain accurate patient records, and suspended Dr. Roumi's New York medical license for six months as of January 20, 2010.

Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d (5), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board (Board) has exercised his authority to permanently remove Dr. Roumi's name from the list of authorized physicians, effective March 9, 2010. The Board had previously advised, by Subject No. 046-404, that Dr. Roumi was prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers during the suspension of his license to practice medicine. Dr. Roumi's last known business address is 2428 Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11229.

Dr. Roumi is prohibited from rendering medical treatment or other treatment and care to individuals who have suffered work-related injuries or illnesses. Medical reports submitted by Dr. Roumi for treatment rendered prior to January 20, 2010, are valid, but are invalid for any treatment rendered on or after this date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Roumi regarding treatment he rendered prior to January 20, 2010, should not be denied due to the suspension of his medical license of the removal of his name from the Board's list of authorized physicians.

Any questions regarding this matter should be referred to the Office of General Counsel at (518) 486-9564.
