Pursuant to Workers' Compensation Law Section 13-d(2)(a), the Chair of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board has exercised her authority to remove Dr. Gregory B. Shankman’s name from the list of physicians authorized to treat injured workers and to perform independent medical examinations in the New York State workers’ compensation system effective April 16, 2018. Dr. Shankman's last known business addresses are:

Dr. Shankman’s authorizations to treat injured workers and to perform independent medical examinations were temporarily suspended by the Board on August 28, 2017 (Subject Number 046-977).

Further investigation has revealed that on or about April 10, 2018, Dr. Shankman pled guilty to two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the Second Degree, admitted to running an ongoing scheme that defrauded the workers’ compensation system of more than $86,000.00, and surrendered his license to practice medicine.

Dr. Shankman is prohibited from rendering treatment and care to injured workers and from performing independent medical examinations. Reports submitted by Dr. Shankman for services rendered prior to August 28, 2017, are valid but are invalid for any services rendered on or after that date. Requests to cross-examine Dr. Shankman for services rendered prior to August 28, 2017, should not be denied due to the removal of his authorizations.
