August 30, 2024

English and Spanish-language webinars to be held on September 5 and 6, respectively.

As Labor Day approaches, the New York State Workers' Compensation Board and the New York State Department of Labor are pleased to announce two new joint webinars to educate workers about critical rights and protections. Each webinar will provide essential information on important labor-related topics, including rules and requirements on minimum wage, overtime, wage payment, child labor, workers' compensation, disability benefits, and Paid Family Leave, as well as anti-discrimination laws and other worker protections.

NYS Workers' Compensation Board Chair Clarissa M Rodriguez said: "As the Board works to ensure workers know and understand the benefits and protections they are entitled to under the law, we are also making the effort to encourage safe workspaces—something every worker has a right to expect. These webinars will be an invaluable resource for any worker who wants to learn the many ways New York State is on their side."

NYS Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon said: "Knowledge is power, and the Department of Labor strives to ensure that all workers across New York State understand their rights under the law. I encourage New Yorkers to take advantage of these webinars to stay informed of their protections while on the job."
